Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an improved service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
