This winter recruitment period is typically a time of intense rumour and possible big-money transfers. A number of prominent stars find themselves connected to transfers out of their present clubs. This article explores some of the top figures who could be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the forward in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a £65 million buy-out clause applicable for a brief window at the start of the month. Recent reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Other suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The England defender has impress for Palace despite a summer move to Anfield collapsing. With his deal set to run out in the summer, January is the club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite sides, such as City and multiple continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barça under new manager Flick. Having lost his place and undergone surgery, a January exit seems increasingly probable. Villa were once linked as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

The prolific England centre-forward has continued scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of making the England World Cup. K. Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ side. The 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a major transfer in January.
